I’ve always wanted to see Crater Lake with its amazing clear, deep blue water, so we took a slight detour on our way up to Sunriver, OR to see this majestic area. As we approached at 11,000 ft. I couldn’t believe how grand it was.
Formed almost 8,000 years ago when 12,000 ft. Mount Mazama, a volcano blew up in a massive explosion. The lake formed is one of the deepest in the world at almost 2,000 ft. deep. The caldera rim is at about 8,000 feet and the lake surface is at around 6,000 ft.
Here’s the view from 10,500 ft.
Print will be hand-signed by Bob Minkin.
